I first became interested in dog obedience training in 1964 when my parents bought me a corgi puppy and I joined the Canterbury Canine Obedience Club attending the children’s class. I represented Zone 4 at the National Dog Obedience Assembly with my corgi “Pepe” in 1967. Over the years I have had lots of fun competing in obedience competitions with my dogs. I trained my first border collie ”Holly” to Test C challenge point level. Currently I own three border collies and enjoy competing with “Travis” in Test A and his daughter “Maggie” who is just starting in Novice. I have also enjoyed serving as a NZKC obedience judge for over 35 years and meeting many wonderful people involved in the sport of dog obedience. I wish everyone an enjoyable and successful weekend at the 2009 NDTA. |
