From Sydney originally, my passion for English setters began with my aunt and uncle who exhibited this breed. I owned and showed my first pup from the age of five. So stemmed my lifelong interest in showing and breeding dogs. As a young teenager I exhibited not only our own setters but handled numerous other breeds as well.
I trained as a primary school teacher in N.Z., married and remained here. My aunt sent me a pup from a bitch I left in Australia. Following that a bitch to be paired with him. So our "Hei Tiki" Kennels were registered in 1966 and is the oldest established kennel of this breed currently exhibiting.
I have owned Dobermans (competing in obedience as well as show) Pointers, Gordon Setter and a German Shorthaired Pointer.
I have had success over the years, winning at BIS & RIS at All Breeds & Speciality Shows plus numerous In Show age awards.
I am an inaugural member of the Waikato Gundog club, English setter Club & Gordon setter Club. During our time with Waikato Gun dog Club we also competed in gundog field trials.
