Horowhenua Obedience Dog Training Club


Horowhenua Obedience Dog Training Club Image The Horowhenua Obedience Dog Training Club has its own clubrooms and grounds at Muaupoko Park at the scenic Horowhenua Lake Domain on the outskirts of Levin.
The club has 100 members who take part in obedience and agility training and competition.
It runs an obedience and agility ribbon trial, two championship agility shows and two championship obedience show each year.
It also runs obedience training courses which handlers can use to establish a good relationship with their pets or use as a basis for going on to competition.

Club Activities

Obedience and Agility training and competition
Training courses for pet owners.

The basic obedience course aims to teach owners basic control of their pets and covers walking at heel, coming on command, stays, general behviour, health care and legal requirements. The training is over two eight-week courses in grades 1 and 2. Further courses through to grade five will take owners through to competition level.

Agility courses are designed to take owners and dogs to competition level. Dogs must be 18 months old to take part in agility except for the puppy class.
