RIVERSONG NEWFOUNDLANDS is a small kennel based in Whangarei, Northland. After more than twenty four years of being owned by Newfoundlands it seems to be a natural progression for us to show and breed occasionally. It is not something we are doing lightly and have put in many years of research into the health and welfare of our breed. We have strict ethics and only wish to enhance our breed - you know - give something back to the breed if we possibly can.
We have three Newfs we have bred, Cruz (Riversong's Super Star) and Ellie (Riversong's Shining Star)and Logan (Riversong's Moonlite Serenade) now carting for the Kiwi Newfoundland Club Carting Team!! The carting team work at school galas by taking children on rides in purpose built carts. Funds raised help both the school and the Kiwi Newf Club. We are particularly proud of these three as a lot of the funds raised goes to Newf Rescue/Rehouse to help those Newfoundlands not as lucky as our lot. Well done to their owners Tim and Amanda and Susan and Phil!!
Avalon (aka Lonny) - NZ CH Cornerbrook Turkishdlite (Imported Australia)- is just as yummy as her name. Huge thank you to Ann Fraser for letting us have this stunning girl. Avalon is a BIG girl with wonderful bone and an outstanding temperament - like both of her gorgeous parents. Lonny has started her show career in style by earning her Championship title at 12 months and 5 days old!! She also finished puppy class with 4 Puppy in Group! She is also The Kiwi Newfoundland Show Newfoundland of the Year 2007/2008. Avalon is now the proud mother of a litter of 7 stunning puppies. Watch for Hannah and Jordan in the show ring and Chelsea, Turk, Layla, Ronan and Willow at Kiwi Newfs Club events.
Our other stunning girl is Storm (Imported UK) -
NZ CH Simplyblack Storm at Riversong. Thank you to Richard and Marg for allowing Storm to travel all the way from England to live with us. She is a beautifully constructed girl with wonderful balance and movement. Storm brings with her some stunning bloodlines that will be a big asset to our breeding program. She too has started her show career with style by winning Best of Breed at the NZKC National Dog Show 2008 at just 15 months of age and then went on to win Reserve Best In SHow at The Southern Newfoundland Society's Specialty Champ Show the next day. Storm currently has 38 challenge certificates (a dog only needs 8 to become a champion in NZ). Storm is a wonderful all-rounder and recently played "Nana" in Peter Pan on stage with the Northland Dance & Ballet School production at Forum North. She was a natural and so amazing at home with a large cast of 50 children and 30 adults! We are so proud of her. Storm is also The Kiwi Newfoundland Club's Show Newfoundland for 2009!!! Storm is NZ's leading Show Bitch (DOL) for 2008 and 2009. She has been shown lightly this past 12 months due to our other committments but will be back in the ring this year.
Health, welfare and loving this wonderful breed is what we are about at Riversong - we occasionally breed sound, healthy puppies for pet, show and working (water work, carting, obedience) homes and place them in the very best of homes and offer the very best support for the whole of the puppy's life. Quality rather than quantity is our goal.
We have some very exciting times ahead.

 Stunning Avalon pictured at 2 years 3 months. She shows such promise and even though she is mischief plus at the moment due to her age she always does what we ask of her - she has so much maturity for one so young. Avalon has her 8 CC's at 11 months! Too young to be awarded Champion but not long until she is 12 months old!! She has been doing so well in the show ring and has 4 Puppy In Groups.
STOP PRESS!! Avalon has earned her CHAMPIONSHIP title at the tender age of 12 months and 5 days. One of the youngest Newfoundlands ever to be be titled!! We are so proud of her!

 Storm pictured at 15 months old shows so much poise and balance for a youngster. She has a bright future in the show ring with her lovely movement and superb construction.
Storm was made NZ Champion at 13months of age!!
Storm went Best of Breed at the NZKC 2008 Nationals in Christchurch at the tender age of 15 months and the next day won Reserve Best In Show at the Southern Newfoundland Society's Specialty Championship Show.
Storm at just two year's of age has over 30 challenge certificates!

Riversong's Moonlite Serenade |

 Logan pictured at 15 months old, is a gorgeous boy with a lovely strong head, dark, tight beautifully shaped eyes, perfect bite, sweet expression, lovely balanced construction and a temperament second to none. We are very proud of this young man. He is currently being introduced into the show ring and has done very well for his co-owner, Mum and handler Susan Burborough. He has 4 challenge certificates to date and is currently having a break from the show ring to mature. He has a bright show career and is also carting the Kiwi Newfoundland club that combined with his love of water means Logie-Bear is shaping up to be a wonderful all rounder - we at Riversong are very very proud of this young man!
