ARIEGE-ROUSSILLON PYRENEAN MOUNTAIN DOGS (owned by Jan and Claire Chaplin) is New Zealand's longest established Kennel of Pyrenean Mountain Dogs and our record of successes with Breeding and Showing speaks for itself. We bred the first Pyrenean to win a Best of Group in 20 years, we were very proud to be the Breeders of the Sire of the Nats BIS Winner in 1995 and also very proud to be the co-owners (with Tarascon) of Australasia's First Grand Champion Pyrenean, NZ Grand Champion Despreaux Seymor (Imp Aust).
We brought in NZ Ch Despreaux Cheverny in 1990 to outcross to our homebred bitches here and that was the best possible thing we did. Arthur as he was known provided through his sons and daughters the foundation stock for several kennels in NZ and we also take great pride in their achievements.. Arthur was such a gentle Pyr, we miss him very much.. PMDC HOF as the Sire of the most Pyr Champions to date.
We take great pride in our liason with the Pyrenean Mountain Dog Club and great pride in my life membership of this Club which has come a long way over the years.Your first year membership paid to the Pyrenean Mountain Dog Club Inc which is the Club recognised by NZKC here.
My daughter Claire is the Handler of our Pyreneans and has done much to enhance their wins in the Show ring over the years. Claire is now baes in Perth.
Ariege-Roussillon Pyreneans has been a Family effort over the years including my husband Mick, youngest daughter Megan and Chris Houghton. We hope to continue for many years and keep up the standard for our Pyreneans. Chris and I hip xray and hip score all our breeding stock, we feel this to be very important for the future of the Breed. Please ensure you ask to see our hip xray and complete score forms from the HD Panel here in NZ. We print our hip scores in the Gazette We are also available for rehoming and rescuing Pyreneans along with assistance from the Pyrenean Mountain Dog Club who are here to help all Pyreneans in need along with assistance from their Breeders. We also offer a lower price for Pups for those owners who wish to neuter or spey their Pyrs from us. We occasionally have older Pyrs needing to be rehomed so please ask for information.
We are also very proud of Ch Ariege Wind Dancer who won 2nd place at the Nats Special Beginners at the 2002 Nat Dog Show along with Res Bitch CC and then Reserve In Show at the Pyr Spec 2002!
Congratulations to NZ Grand Champion Despreaux Seymor on his Best of Breed at the 2003 National Dog Show and for his Best In Show at the Pyrenean 2003 Specialty. Best in Show 2004 Pyr Ch Show was our youngster Ch Ariege Lord of the Dance, well done to Herbert!

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Ronda and Martin Trent's Ch Tarascon Lord of the Ring (Frodo) for his ALLBREEDS BEST IN SHOW at the Aorangi Ch Show. Frodo is sired by our Despreaux Puff Daddy (Imp Aust) and is the sire of Ch Ariege Lord of the Dance . Congrats to the latest Champions, Ch Ariege Mis Da Mina and Ch Ariege Bohemian Rhapsody owned by Chris Houghton.
Welcome to Despreaux Basil n Thyme . A son of the Norwegian import Aust Ch Laughton's Thinker (Imp Norway).
Basil is now two and a half years of age and starting his show careeer. His 2nd Show saw him awarded Best Intermediate In Show by Mrs Crozier of NSW at Pencarrow end of July 2007.
Also being shown are Ariege King Ice Snowball and his litter sister Ariege Summatyme Blues.

 Seymor is owned by myself and Ronda Trent of Tarascon Pyreneans and has been handled over the years by my daughter Claire. He has a hip score of 4 (total) and has sired for myself and Ronda some great Pyreneans who have gone out and won in the show ring and produced some excellent Pyrs for us. His sire came from frozen semen via the UK. Seymor died in Oct 2006 aged 11 and a half years. Thankyou Seymor for all you have done for our Pyreneans. 3 BIS Allbreeds, 2 BIS Spec, 1 RBIS Allbrreds, 1 RBIS Group plus many, many BOG, RBOG, Age class in groups and age class in Shows.

 Aka Kermit and owned by my daughter Claire. Kermit is now 10years of age and is a son of NZ Grand Champion Despreaux Seymor and Ch Ariege Debutante (hip score total 4) . For some years he was shown in the shadow of his sire but has held his own and has done Ariege proud in the show ring. Several Puppy of Groups, Baby Puppy in Show, Minor Puppy in Show, many NZ Breds in Show, RBIS HB Non Sporting/Utility Ch Show, twice BIS at the PMDC Ch Shows along with many Group wins. He is a Pyrenean to be proud of and helps raise the litters here with his caring, sharing ways!! We look forward to showing Kermit for the rest of this year and hoping to have him sire a litter later this year. From the beginning of 2003 Kermit has won a Best of Group, a Reserve of Group, 5 X NZ Bred of Group and 3 times NZ Bred in Show uptil April 2003!! Further congrats to Kermit on winning Best of Utility Group on 1st August plus 2X NZ Bred of Group! Kermie is now retired and lives happily with his pink rubber hedgehog.

 aka as Herbert, now aged 4 years. Herbert enjoys the showring so much and suits his name (Lord of the Dance) to perfection.. He has done well for a young male Pyr in the last 18 months including Best In Show at 16 months of age at the Pyr Ch Show in June. His Sire is BIS winner Ch Tarascon Lord of the Ring, owned and bred by Ronda and Martin Trent. Congratulations to Herbert on his recent "cluster" of wins in the Show ring! Reserve Best of Group/Int of Group, Wairoa in April. 2X Best Int of Group,Upper Hutt in June. Best of Group, Reserve of Group and 3X Int of Group at the Wgtn Benefit Shows in June.
